Raising Women of Honor to Be the Leaders of the Future.
Frontier Girls was founded in 2007 by Kerry Cordy as an alternative to Girl Scouts to form a program that blended her passion for traditional scouting with her love of homeschooling and her belief that anything and everything could be fun and educational. What started as a small family business has grown into a nationwide grassroots movement where members from across the nation share ideas and offer support. With over 1,000 individual badges to earn there is something for everyone.
Troops and individual Pioneers are present in nearly every state as well as several countries. Frontier Girls offers the opportunity for girls to earn badges, participate in community service opportunities, explore the outdoors, and learn the confidence and character to become great leaders.
Unlike other scouting style programs, Frontier Girls is a curriculum you purchase, not an organization that you join. Troops are run autonomously by local nonprofits or individuals as part of their local youth programming. This structure allows a great amount of flexibility in how troops are run. Those run by churches or temples are allowed to teach specific doctrine as part of their youth ministries while those run by organizations such as the VFW or American legion lean toward teaching patriotism and civic duty.
Since it’s inception, Frontier Girls has spun off two additional programs, Quest Clubs and Curiosity Untamed. All three program use the same badges and awards in slightly different ways. Choose the program that is best for your family or combine all three.
All About Choices
There was once a time when the educational theory for girls was based on the fact that a woman’s place was in the home; her education and abilities were carefully centered around present and future homemaking activities. Then the pendulum swung the other direction as women battled for equal rights within the work place. Simply being a homemaker was suddenly considered a lowly position. Frontier Girls recognizes not only the ability of women to excel in the career of their choice, but just as importantly the continued need for strong and loving mothers in the home. We believe that you can do anything you set your mind to. From the President of the United States to a mother of ten, your future is up to you. Regardless of what you choose, there are certain skills and character traits that will always hold you in good stead and these are what Frontier Girls hopes to teach.
