Penguins: Do 3 requirements including the 2 starred *.

____ 1*. Learn what mind puzzles are and look at examples of 3 different types e.g.; crosswords, sudoku, kakuro, hourglass, etc.

____ 2*. Find someone who likes to work mind puzzles and talk to them. What is their favorite type of puzzle, and why?

 

Otters: Do 4 requirements including the 2 starred *.

____ 1*. Do Penguin requirements 1 & 2.

____ 2*. Learn about a particular type of puzzle, such as a word search and learn to do it. Do two of these puzzles at your level of difficulty.

 

Dolphins: Do 5 requirements including the 2 starred *.

____ 1*. Do Otter requirements 1 & 2, but you must do at least 3 different puzzles. (If you earned this badge at an earlier level you must learn about and do a different type of puzzle.)

____ 2*. Find 3 examples of mind puzzles and show them to your family or troop.

 

Butterflies: Do 6 requirements including the 2 starred *.

____ 1*. Do Dolphin requirements 1 & 2, but do at least 4 different puzzles. (If you earned this badge at an earlier level you must learn about a different type of puzzle.)

____ 2*. Learn how doing mind puzzles can help to stimulate your brain or can help it to relax.

 

Eagles: Do 7 requirements including the 2 starred *.

____ 1*. Do Butterfly requirements 1 & 2, but do at least 5 different puzzles. (If you earned this badge at an earlier level you must learn about a different kind of puzzle.)

____ 2 *.  Learn about the history of mind puzzles.

 

Owls:  Do 9 requirements including the two starred.

_____ 1. *  Do Eagle requirements 1 & 2

_____ 2. *  Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone.   You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge.   If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.

  

Optional Requirements:

____ 3. Learn about how puzzles such as crosswords are created. If possible, shadow someone for a day who creates puzzles for a newspaper, etc. Make a puzzle of your own.

____ 4. Learn about crossword puzzles, learn to do them and complete one appropriate to your age and ability.  Butterflies – Owls create your own crossword puzzle.

____ 5. Learn about frame game puzzles, learn to do them and complete one appropriate to your age and ability. Butterflies – Owls create your own frame game puzzle.

____ 6. Learn about hourglass puzzles, learn to do them and complete one appropriate to your age and ability.  Butterflies – Owls create your own hourglass puzzle.

____ 7. Learn about kakuro puzzles, learn to do them and complete one appropriate to your age and ability.  Butterflies – Owls create your own kakuro puzzle.

____ 8. Learn about sudoku puzzles, learn to do them and complete one appropriate to your age and ability.  Butterflies – Owls create your own sudoku puzzle.

____ 9. Learn how the different types of puzzles are separated into difficulty levels.

____ 10. Teach someone else how to do your favorite type of mind puzzles.

____ 11. Learn how to complete a Rubik’s cube.
