What is the difference between Curiosity Untamed, Quest Clubs and Frontier Girls?
All three use the same extensive badge curriculum, but each is designed for a different way of learning and participating.
Frontier Girls is a structured scouting-style program for girls that began in 2007. It includes a required uniform, Promise, Creed, motto, community service, leadership opportunities, and higher awards.
Quest Clubs was created in 2010 as a more flexible option for groups that want to create a club that fits their own needs. Clubs may be all boys, all girls, or co-ed and choose their own name, uniform, traditions, policies, and structure.
Curiosity Untamed was launched in 2020 for families, homeschoolers, schools, libraries, senior programs, enrichment classes, and others who want to use the badge curriculum without participating in Frontier Girls or forming a Quest Club.
The same badge curriculum can be used in many different ways, whether you are learning as a family, teaching a class, or participating in a club or troop.
Do I have to participate in national fundraisers?
No. Curiosity Untamed does not conduct or require national fundraisers. Frontier Girls troops and Quest Clubs may choose to hold their own fundraisers to support their activities, but fundraising is not required. Money raised locally stays with the local group.
Are your badges patches?
No. Our badges are 1.25-inch button-style pins or magnets. No sewing required.
Frontier Girls uses the pin version of the badges on the official Frontier Girls uniform.
How do I get my badges?
After completing the badge requirements, you may purchase physical badge pins or magnets through the Curiosity Untamed store.
Who decides when badge requirements have been completed?
For families and homeschoolers, the parent or other responsible adult decides when the requirements have been completed satisfactorily.
For a class, Quest Club, or Frontier Girls troop, the teacher or leader determines when the requirements have been completed.
Are there printed handbooks or badge books?
No. Badge requirements and program materials are provided online. New badges and resources are added regularly, so printed books would quickly become outdated.
What ages can participate?
All ages. Our badges are designed for preschoolers through adults.
Younger participants complete fewer requirements at a simpler level, while older participants complete more requirements and are expected to demonstrate a higher level of skill, knowledge, and independence. Whether you are 3 or 103, there is something new to learn.
Can different ages be part of the same club or troop?
Yes. Our program was written specifically with multi-age groups in mind.
Children and adults of different ages can work on the same badge together. Older participants may complete many of the same requirements as younger participants, but they complete additional requirements and work at a higher level of skill and knowledge.
This makes it possible for siblings of different ages to participate together and allows older members to develop leadership skills by helping and mentoring younger members.
Multi-age groups don’t need separate lessons. They need layered expectations.
Can Curiosity Untamed badges be used to supplement other programs?
Yes. Families and educators may use Curiosity Untamed badges to supplement other educational, homeschool, club, or youth programs, subject to the rules of those programs.
Keep in mind that another organization may have its own rules about what may be worn on its official uniform. Curiosity Untamed badges can also be displayed on tote bags, backpacks, jackets, shadow boxes, bulletin boards, magnet boards, or in other creative ways.
What if I don’t have the skills necessary to teach a specific badge?
No parent or leader can be an expert on everything children may want to learn.
You can learn alongside them, take a class, find a knowledgeable friend or family member, or look for someone in your community who can share their expertise. Local businesses, clubs, museums, parks, libraries, craftspeople, professionals, and hobbyists can all be wonderful resources.
Part of learning is discovering where to find people who know more than you do.
Where can I find resources?
Start with the resources and articles on Curiosity Untamed. They cover a wide variety of subjects and can help with many of our badges.
The internet, library, museums, parks, local businesses, community organizations, and people with experience in the subject you’re studying can also be excellent resources.

How can we display badges and awards?
That depends on how you are using the program.
Curiosity Untamed and Quest Club participants can display badge pins or magnets on vests, tote bags, backpacks, jackets, bulletin boards, shadow boxes, refrigerators, magnet boards, or however works best for them.
Frontier Girls badge pins and awards are worn on the official Frontier Girls uniform according to the Frontier Girls uniform guidelines.
Can I write my own badge requirements?
Yes. You are welcome to create additional badge requirements for your own use.
If you create a badge you think other members would enjoy, you may also submit it to Curiosity Untamed for consideration. You are not required to share your original badge requirements with us.
When I join a Quest Club or Frontier Girls troop, am I joining a national organization?
No. This is an important distinction.
Curiosity Untamed LLC is a for-profit company that provides educational curriculum, program materials, physical badges, and licenses for the use of the Frontier Girls and Quest Clubs programs.
Frontier Girls troops and Quest Clubs are independently organized and operated. They are not divisions, branches, or agents of Curiosity Untamed LLC.
Curiosity Untamed LLC does not operate local troops or clubs, select their leaders, conduct their meetings, or supervise their activities.
Curiosity Untamed LLC is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Can a Frontier Girls troop or Quest Club membership be transferred to someone else?
Memberships and licenses are subject to the current Curiosity Untamed Terms and Conditions and applicable membership agreement. If leadership or responsibility for a group is changing, please contact Curiosity Untamed before transferring access or use of the program to another person or organization.
Do we have to wear uniforms?
Frontier Girls: Yes. Frontier Girls has an official required uniform consisting of a red vest, white shirt, and navy bottoms. Frontier Girls badge pins and awards are displayed on the uniform according to the program’s uniform guidelines.
Quest Clubs: No official uniform is required. Each Quest Club may choose whether to have a uniform and what that uniform will look like.
Curiosity Untamed: No uniform is required for families, homeschoolers, classes, or others simply using the Curiosity Untamed curriculum.
Can I charge dues for my class, club, or troop?
Local groups may collect dues or fees to cover their own expenses, subject to applicable laws and the Curiosity Untamed Terms and Conditions and membership agreement.
Curiosity Untamed LLC does not set, collect, manage, or control dues charged by independently operated Frontier Girls troops, Quest Clubs, or other groups using the curriculum.
Does Curiosity Untamed LLC perform background checks on leaders or volunteers?
No. Curiosity Untamed LLC does not select, screen, train, supervise, or conduct background checks on the leaders or volunteers of independently operated Frontier Girls troops, Quest Clubs, classes, or other groups using Curiosity Untamed content.
Each group is responsible for its own leadership, supervision, screening practices, safety procedures, and compliance with applicable laws.
Parents and guardians should ask the local group directly about its leaders, supervision, background-check practices, safety policies, and any waivers or consent forms required before allowing a child to participate.
