Penguins: Do 3 requirements including the two starred *.
_____ 1*. What is a band? Be able to explain what a band is to someone.
_____ 2*. Know the name of your band, and what type of music it plays. Learn to sing one of your band's songs.
Otters: Do four requirements including the two starred *.
_____ 1*. Do Penguin requirement 1*, but be able to sing at least two of their songs. Be able to recognize your band's logo.
_____ 2*. Know the names of all the members of your band, and be able to recognize them in a photograph.
Dolphins: Do five requirements including the two starred *.
_____ 1*. Do Otter requirements 1 & 2, but be able to sing at least three of their songs. Know the history of your chosen band's name.
_____ 2*. Learn the history of your band and make a timeline of it. You must have at least 10 items on your timeline. Know when and where your band was founded.
Butterflies: Do six requirements including the two starred *.
_____ 1*. Do Dolphin requirements 1 & 2, but be able to sing at least four of their songs.
_____ 2*. Learn how many albums your band has produced. Be able to name them all.
Eagles: Do seven requirements including the two starred *.
_____ 1*. Do Butterfly requirements 1 & 2, but be able to sing at least five of their songs.
_____ 2*. Know what your band's first number one hit was, and listen to it. Make a list of your favorite songs your band has released and take note of where their first hit appears on your list, if at all.
Owls: Do 9 requirements including the 2 starred *.
_____ 1*.Â Do Eagle requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2*. Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone. You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge.Â If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.
_____ 3. Read a biography of one of the members of your chosen band. Would you choose to be this person if you could?
_____ 4. Learn about any awards your chosen band has won, such as the CMA awards, or the Grammys. When, and for which song?
_____ 5. Know what each member of your chosen band contributes to the whole, i.e.: singing or playing instruments. For any band member who plays an instrument, know which instruments they play.
_____ 6. Meet a member of your chosen band.
_____ 7. Being polite at a concert is very important, and shows respect for both the performers and the rest of the audience. Learn audience etiquette.
_____ 8. With your parent's permission, go online to find out what sort of memorabilia is available for your chosen band.
_____ 9. Learn 1 (Penguins), 3 (Otters and Dolphins), 5 (Butterflies and Eagles), 9 (Owls) fun facts about your chosen band.
_____ 10. Meet someone who works âbehind the scenesâ for your chosen band. What is their job? How do they help make the band run smoothly?
_____ 11. Earn either the Music or Vocal Music by Genre badge at your level.
_____ 12. Attend one of your band's concerts.
_____ 13. Does your band have a grant foundation? Find out what kinds of groups/projects your band
supports, how they select grant recipients, how they raise money for the grants.
_____ 14. Write an essay about what you like about your favorite band and the kind of music they play.
_____ 15. Earn the Musical Instrument badge for an instrument that is used in your chosen band's music.
_____ 16. Do any of your band members have charities? Learn about any. If possible, do a service project to help one of them.
_____ 17. Learn what goes into creating a band and what career can be made out of being a band member.
_____ 18. Learn the names of any former band members and be able to recognize them in a photograph.
