Penguin: Do three requirements including the one starred
__ 1. *What is polymer clay? Learn how to work with it with your hands and simple tools. Learn how to condition, shape, and safely bake it. Polymer Clay can be toxic so learn what safety precautions to take when working with polymer clay.

__ 2.*  How do you care for your creation when it is finished? Look at examples of things made from polymer clay.

Otter: Do four requirements including the two starred
__ 1. *Do Penguin requirement 1.
__ 2. *Learn how polymer clay is made.

Dolphin: Do five requirements including the two starred
__ 1. *Do Otter requirements 1 & 2.
__ 2. *What is the difference between polymer clay and at least 2 other moldable clays? What is the purpose of varnish?

Butterflies: Do six requirements including the two starred
__ 1. *Do Dolphin requirements 1 & 2.
__ 2. *Learn some of the history of polymer clay. Watch an experienced person work with polymer clay. Look around your house for common items that would make good tools for working with polymer clay. Get permission before using these tools.

Eagles: Do seven requirements including the two starred
__ 1. *Do Butterfly requirements 1 & 2.
__ 2. *Learn about specific tools that are used for polymer clay including conditioning, shaping, and baking. If possible, use some of these tools.

Owls: Do nine requirements including the two starred.
__ 1. *Do Eagle requirements 1 & 2.
__ 2. *Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone. You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge. If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.
If you are earning the badge a second time, be sure to incorporate new techniques into your pieces.

Optional requirements
__ 3. Try using paint, ink, or powders to embellish your clay.
__ 4. Make a piece of jewelry.
__ 5. Make a miniature for a dollhouse, diorama, or similar.
__ 6. Make a gift for someone from polymer clay.
__ 7. Make something to adorn a something for your home.
__ 8. Try to mix colors of clay to make a new color.
__ 9. Try an extruder.
__ 10. Learn to make clay "canes."
__ 11. Try to make a set of identical pieces, like you would for earrings or buttons.
__ 12. Try using stamps or a similar tool to add texture to the clay.
__ 13. Make a sculpture that required a “skeleton” of toothpicks or similar.
__ 14. Make a set of beads.
