This badge can be earned multiple times, once for each type of RC vehicle you learn about.

Penguins: Do the 2 starred requirements below plus one optional requirement.

_____ 1.*   Learn what it means to operate a vehicle via remote control.  Know what a "pit" area is and what it is used for.
_____ 2.*   Choose an RC vehicle to learn about.  Find out what it is called and how to recognize it.  Understand how to stay safe around RC vehicles of this type both as a spectator as well as a driver or pit helper.
Otter: Do the 2 starred requirements below plus two optional requirements.

_____ 1.*  Do Penguin requirements 1 & 2
_____ 2*  Learn to how the controller works for your RC vehicle and if possible try driving the vehicle.   How many channels does your controller have?  What do they control?
Dolphin:Do the 2 starred requirements below plus three optional requirements.

_____ 1.*  Do Otter requirements 1&2
_____ 2.*  Learn where you are allowed to run your RC vehicle.  What type of safety considerations do you have to take into account when choosing a location?  Are there local clubs that provide an area to practice and compete or is your RC vehicle usually just used for recreation?  

Butterfly: Do the 2 starred requirements below plus four optional requirements.

_____ 1.*  Do Dolphin requirements 1 & 2
_____ 2.*  Learn the difference between gas powered vs electric vs nitro RC motors.  What are the pros and cons of each?  
Eagle:  Do the 2 starred requirements below plus five optional requirements.
_____ 1.*  Do Butterfly requirements 1 & 2
_____ 2.* Learn about competitions available for your RC vehicle.  What associations run them?  Where and how often?  Are there local, regional, state, and national levels of competition? What is the cost of joining a local club?  If there are no competitions, are there recreational clubs where you can meet with other similar RC enthusiasts? 

Owls:  Do the 2 starred requirements below plus six optional requirements.

_____2.* Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone. You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge. If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.

Optional Requirements:
_____ 3.  Learn about what "scale" means.  What scale is your RC vehicle compared to real vehicles?
_____ 4.  Design a paint job for your RC vehicle
_____ 5.  Watch an RC competition of your chosen vehicle or even better, participate in one.
_____ 6.  Understand the difference between a brushed and brushless motor.
_____ 7.  Learn the basics of how the engine works in your RC vehicle and how to make general repairs if things get broken.
_____ 8. Be able to identify at least 3 body/hull types
_____ 9.  Participate in a community service project that involves RC vehicles in some way.  You may wish to raise money for a local club or association, help maintain club or community facilities that allow RC vehicles, volunteer to help facilitate a competition, etc.
_____ 10.  Compare ready to run models vs build your own kits.  What are the cost differences?  What are the quality differences?  What are the pros and cons of each.
_____ 11.  Learn about what tools you should have on hand if you plan to get into RC hobbies.  What are the most common tools you will need to repair and maintain your vehicle?
_____ 12.  Learn the aerodynamics of the designs for racing an RC vehicle.  Explain how the design can effect the speed and what design elements are most important when competing.
_____ 13.  Compare various brands and options for your RC vehicle.  What are the cost/quality differences?  Can they be purchased at a local hobby store, or must they be purchased online?
_____ 14. Learn the rules for a competition involving your RC vehicle.  How do they start?  Are there "lanes"?  What errors can add a lap or disqualify you?  Are there engine rules?  How and when are you allowed to pass another vehicle?
