_____ 1*. What is respect? Discuss with your family or Troop how you can show respect to others, such as parents, teachers, older siblings, Troop leaders, etc. How would you show respect to God? How would you show respect to your friends?
____ 2*. Practice being respectful of others for two weeks. Make a chart and mark on it when you were respectful of others and when you weren’t. Which should happen more often?
____ 3. Write the word ‘RESPECT’ down the side of a piece of paper. Then write a word or sentence describing respect next to each letter. For instance, ‘R’ could be “Recognizing authority”, ‘E’ could be “Elders know best”, etc.
____ 4. Look through the Bible or your own book of faith, and find and learn 1 verse about respect if you are a Penguin, 3 verses if you are an Otter or Dolphin, and 5 verses if you are a Butterfly or Eagle.
____ 5. Make a “Respect Bouquet” using the Victorian Language of Flowers. Find pictures of flowers that represent respect and use them to make a scrapbook page or a poster.
Create a collage of pictures that show respect. Explain what each picture represents.
____ 6. Find and learn 1 quotation about respect if you are a Penguin, 3 if you are an Otter or a Dolphin, and 5 if you are a Butterfly or an Eagle.
____ 7. Draw a picture of what respect means to you.
____ 8. Learn a song about respect.
____ 9. Read a poem about respect and discuss it with your family or Troop.
____ 10. Read a biography of someone known for their respectfulness.
____ 11. Write your own poem about respectfulness.
____ 12. Write a skit about respect and perform it for your family or Troop.
____ 13. When you watch TV make a list of how many times respect or lack of respect is portrayed.
____ 14. Watch a TV interview with national leader/senator, etc., and observe whether the interviewer treats the interviewee with respect.
____ 15. How is respect similar to obedience? If one doesn’t respect the authority figures, is one likely to respect the laws that those figures represent?
_____ 16. Make a list of people you think are respectful and be able to explain why.
