A Note From the Founder – Frontier Girl of the Month Nominations

by Kerry Cordy

As a brand new decade begins, we would like to start highlighting Frontier Girls and their accomplishments on a more regular basis, but we need your help!  Each month we will choose a Frontier Girl of the month that we feel represents what Frontier Girls is all about.  While earning awards is always admirable, we are also looking for more day to day role models.  Do you have a girl in your troop that is particularly kind and helpful that you would like to honor?  What about someone who did something wonderful for someone in their community?  Do you have a girl in your troop you have watched grow into a leadership role?  What about public speaking or helping to mentor younger girls in the troop?  Frontier Girl of the month is not limited to troop members, but is open to Pioneers, Leaders, Volunteers and Parents as well.  Do you have a parent who quietly helps out in the background that you couldn’t do without?  What about fundraising volunteers who take on the huge task of money earning?  Is your leader a veteran who served our country? Who do you feel fully represents Frontier Girls?  Send us their story and a picture to kerry@frontiergirls.com with the subject line Frontier Girl of the Month to nominate them.  Each Frontier Girl of the month chosen will receive a magnetic pendant or keychain with the Frontier Girl logo and two inserts of their choice.

Frontier Girls SWAPS board

Sign Up for 2020 March 4th SWAPS

Every year Frontier Girls troops and Quest Clubs from around the country get to know each other by trading SWAPS.  SWAPS  are small craft  items that can be pinned for display somewhere on a jacket, a backpack, a sash, or a scarf and is a perfect way for kids to meet each other and promote friendship. Each SWAP item is a memory of a special event or person and stands for “Souvenir With A Purpose”. Each swap should have a safety pin on the item to attach to your display.  To participate in our annual SWAPS event, fill out the form below and we will assign you a partner to swap with.

Rules for participating:

  1.  Fill out the registration form HERE and submit no later than January 31, 2020
  2. SWAPS partners will be assigned by February 7, 2020

January 19 – Frontier Girls 13th Birthday

Frontier Girls is turning 13! Frontier Girls was officially founded on January 19th, 2007.  Ideas for celebrating this day include:

  • Go out into the community and do something to make it better – pick up trash, plant a tree, help at a food bank, etc.
  • Throw a birthday party with your troop using patriotic decorations.
  • Wear your uniforms to school or church

American Kennel Club – Meet the Breeds!

by Meredith Saraceno

My name is Meredith Saraceno and I am the Public Education Manager at the American Kennel Club.  American Kennel Club will be hosting AKC Meet the Breeds on January 25th and 26th, 2020 at the Javits Center in New York City.

The AKC Patch Program will take place at this event and we are inviting local youth groups to attend. This program allows youth of all ages to learn about purebred dogs and responsible dog ownership. Lessons include learning about the 7 AKC breed groups, responsible dog ownership, basic canine care, and more. This program is an interactive, hands-on learning experience that emphasizes the importance of being a responsible dog owner and a good citizen. Each participant will receive a free patch.

We recently hosted troops from Frontier Girls at a similar program in Orlando and we are hoping to continue our relationship with your great organization through this event.
